Flickering light/ PAS sensor since front spring broke...

Featured Replies

Earlier this week there was a loud bang and bits started to fall off from beneath our 2000 Fabia 1.4. Took it in to a non Skoda garage and they identified an off-side front shocker spring having broken and gouged away at the top support bearing. Broken bits were replaced and all is well.

However, since then the front lights and dash light have been flickering while cold and can hear the PAS pump changing speed while stationary. Apply a bit of pressure to the wheel and it stabalises. Once warm is ok. Stearing gets light, etc.

Now both of the above are mentioned in several threads in this forum but I was wondering, as I have never experienced this flickering thing before, could the spring breakage or perhaps the actions of the mechanics have caused the PAS sensor to play up?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I'd be interested if this has happened to anyone else as my spring went bang a few monts ago, in a similar manor as above, had both springs replaced and it did cross my mind that my now emerging pas problem may be relaited i.e. did some damage when it went bang.

I can't see how replacing springs will affect the PAS sensor. It's likely to be water ingress into the sensor and its not uncommon for things to start failing on a seven year old car.
