Rust proofing mesh

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have purchased some mesh and am going to use it on the front of the car, but I have heard somewhere that it might need rust proofing - is this true?

If so what do I rust proof with bearing in mind I want to keep the shineyness of the mesh?

Cheers

If it is chrome plated then it should be of, if the plating is thick enough. If its bare metal or just polished, then some clear gloss automotive laquer would do the trick. just spray after you have shaped it, to avoid cracking.

Aye, its just bare metal I think but I suppose I cant go wrong if I put some laquer on. Clear gloss laquer it is *goes off to shope* - will this stuff also give a "shine" to my light brows I have sprayed up because they look abit duller in comparison to the paintwork?

might do. It might be that if you have recently sprayed the brows then the paint is not so smooth. Once the paint is really well cured, a little polish might bring out the shine. Laquer is probably a good idea anyway, just to help protect the paint.

Change of plan, Im going to paint it black. Any ideas how? Also, do I need to paint over the black in order to stop it chipping?

Thanks all:thumbup:
