Too Many Communication Errors

Featured Replies

Joey,

I have just installed on my XP laptop the trial version you are using and by coincidence have the same 3rd Party usb interface. I installed no drivers from the disc supplied as from the screen shots and install text files it appeared the drivers were for non xp OS's e.g 98. After setting the Com port on the laptop to 2 from the 10 following the auto driver install and then in teh VAG com options screen setting the com port to 2 also, the test function worked Ok with car ignition on.

Did I read in one of your post you have installed the VAG com sotware on a MAC? If so I seem to remember some info regarding compatability on the VAGCOM site

I have tried the setup on my 3 cars 2 Octavias and a Superb and it worked fine reading and clearing fault codes.

I did have one issue where the controller 46 failed to respond after a VAG com shareware warning appeared whilst leaving the adaption option IIRC and after attemping an adaption that was not allowed with the shareware version, however I have resolved the controller reponse issue this evening after a vehicle battery disconnect on 2 ocasions. Whilst unable to connect to controller 46 all others were fine.

Moving on I expect to be buying the licenced version after more trial software analysis, as I am very impressed with the product so far .

I am not using VAG COM Harware as you state above I am using a third party usb interface - the same as the one you posted you were using in a previous post.

Didn't use any specific url for instructions other than those found by browsing the Briskoda pages where people have tried to help your install. I used the VAG COM TWIN USB Interface for release 409.1 @ Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Download old versions for obsolete interfaces (Release4091us.exe)

1. Boot up laptop

2. plug in interface to usb port

3. accept the XP drivers from auto prompts (you will see the screen shots examples uin small cd with drivers you recieved with the lead.

5. set com port for interface as previously posted in other posts on subject.

6.take PC to car

7. plug interface lead in car

8. usb end plugged into laptop

9. ignition on

10. start vag com software

11. options page set com port to 1,2,3, or 4 to match that set in step 5

12. test with test button.

13. success message produced

I would look around the vag com site re the XP emulator as I believe I read its not compatable IIRC vagcoms FAQ page 1 -Q1.4 & 1.8 @ Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: FAQ Page 1

I have no Knowlege re Fabia steering pumps and vag com coding.

Remember that the shareware VAGCOM version is limited and adaption limited without a save function.

Yes I am using a MAC but it is running Windows XP within the MAC as an emulator...

Newer Intel CPU or IBM/Motorola?

If Intel, use Boot Camp -- everyone who's tried this says it works great.

If IBM/Motorola, all I can say is "Good luck".

Sorry if I didnt make it clear?

From above...

I installed no drivers from the disc supplied as from the screen shots and install text files it appeared the drivers were for non xp OS's e.g 98.

and

3. accept the XP drivers from auto prompts

I suggest you....

Have a look at the XP screen shots on disc you have it shows what to expect to be prompted when you plug the interface as I mentined in above post

TO MAKE IT ABSOLUTLY CLEAR.................

NO I DIDN'T USE THE DRIVERS THAT CAME WITH THE USB INTERFACE -

I am usin the Intel CPU which has Parralells.

Nobody has had any success with the "Released" version of Parallels. However, at least one person has said that the latest Beta version of Parallels (which has greatly improved USB support) does work.

And Boot Camp is known to work.
