ABS light

Featured Replies

Hi!!

ABS light is on while i start my engine. After the engine is started ABS light is off. What is it? If somebody can help me. The ABS is working (i think). I tested it on slipery road.

Hi, I have been drinking so please excuse me if I am missing the point here.

I thought all warning lights came on with the ignition and then went out again after the engine was started (once the relevant system had been checked and was deemed working).

Two questions. Does the ABS light remain on if you switch the ignition on but then don't start the engine? And can you hear the ABS automatic test procedure which is carried out when the car has reached a speed of about 12 mph? Listen carefully for a pump noise which may be audible for about 1 second. (I find this only happens after a cold start rather than each time the car is driven during a day).

The ABS light is on for a few seconds and off. like any other lights (airbag, oil, battery...). i tryed to listen for a sound on 18 kmh. but nothing. i do not know what the sound must be.

The Owner's Manual says:

The ABS warning light should come on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. If the ABS light does not go off after a few seconds, if it does not come on at all, or comes on when driving, the system is not operating normally.

From what you have just said, I think that your car's ABS system is OK. The pump noise at 18km/h is difficult to hear.

I'd agree; that sounds like normal behaviour to me too, at least if the red "seatbelt" warning light is the last one to go out.
