citreon c2 vtr

Featured Replies

ok, the missus has her eye on a citreon c2 vtr and wants to buy it.

reading up on them ive heard bad things about the sensodrive auto gearbox in them being too slow to change gear.

has anyone on here drove one, and what is your view on this. the missus only holds a auto licence and will be using the auto function all the time.

Daz

in auto, I believe its fine..... if you select them manually, they are PAINFULLY slow to change! but it works fine as an auto..... (I drove one, once owned a C2 GT too )

nice one.

whats your opinion on the car as a whole? please.

If you have issues about the auto box try and look for a GT... better car

I test drove a VTR once and found the sensodrive easy to get on with..once you've grasped it.

The boot on it is poxy which is what put me off getting one really.

The GT is the same, was limited to 2,500 I think! and is basically a stripped out model to make it lighter and more like the rally car so the dealer told me.

Fairly rapid and reasonable to insure. Residuals seem pretty good from what I've seen.

Anyway some help!!

the VTR is the only way to go with the missus only holding an auto licence. also, dont want her getting something too fast and showing my furby up!

Not sure if it's much help.. but one of the car mags compared the C1 and C2 and they said the C1 was a better drive...

Is the GT the one with the white alloys?

I used to have the C2 GT. I bought it from new and loved the little thing. It was quicker than you'd imagine and embarassed many a bigger car. The insurance group was a joke, Group 6 and

My cousin had the c2 vtr, and the semi-auto box was so jerky on changing!!!

You nearl go through the window, every time you change

I also dont like them, as i used to have a c3, and its the worst car i have ever owned.

It fell to bits, i had to have new suspension, new gear box.

1 month after i got the car, one of the air bags went off on me, whilst driving. Scared the ****e out of me!!

And then, Citroen told, that it was fault, and not covered under warrenty.

Would never have anything to do with citroen again.

But everyone makes there own decisions, and i hope if she gets one, its not a friday afternoon car. (or knowing citroen, a monday afternoon car, tuesday aftrenoon car, etc) lol

Car drove nice though, Only good point about the car.

Hope this helps.

Chris

well I was going to get a C2 VTS instead of the VRS. They are very cheap and basic like alot of the citroen range but purposeful.

I think I made the right choice, but as for somone with an auto license and wants a run about car then the c2 is a good car to get.

That C2 by Loeb looks awesome! 125BHP and only

nice one.

I ran the GT for about 18 months and 44k..... (number 0534)

great handling, go-kart like, very sharp front end, easy to get oversteer! bit of a cheap 'bits falling off' interior, but I could live with it, very strong brakes (though the brake assist annoyed the hell out of me when it went of when you just have a 'spirited' drive towards a roundabout! sets the hazzards off too! it was quite different to the VTR, I looked up the specs, lower harder suspension, and as someone else said stripped out, it has the same engine as the VTR, but was about 1.8 seconds faster to 60!

was happy with it until 40k, when the gearbox died. the repaired it under warranty, but I lost confidance, and got rid. this is common on this gearbox (a particular bearing!) but won't affect you as you will have the auto!

engine is pretty indestructable, I ran this engine in a saxo VTR for 150,000 miles with absolutley no probs, just dealer servicing. (gearbox went in that car too, but at 117,000 miles, so I was happy with that, original clutch too!)

as others have said though, you will notice poor buil quality compaired to the fabia, and the dealers suck (but then I have yet to find a good dealer :( )

the car is good fun though  I also considered the VTS instead of the vRS....... has the same gearbox, so I went for the vRS, then the gearbox in that fell out at 40k!! maybe I should go for an auto! lol....

note: as others said the lobe special edition is a steal at 9 grand! (manual though )
