Used Fabia Vrs residuals

Featured Replies

I was reading in Autoexpress or Autocar ( cant remember which one) about how good the vrs is for a sound used vehicle..Little paragragh saying it holds it value well due to them being in short supply...oh and the last thing they said was to avoid 'electronically chipped' ones..

Would you agree that they are in short supply, there always seems plenty to me on Autotrader etc ?

I think that was certainly always the case, but now the early ones are hitting 3 years old and being traded in, it should become a buyer's market

When I was looking there were plenty to choose from but they all got snapped up pretty fast. Wont be long before there's loads more on the roads as people are catching on and thus the residuals will suffer.

Then it'll boil down to the amount of options fitted and the colour which will help residuals. Silver seems to hold its value well as it's quite neutral and appeals to the most people. This isn't just the Fabia, it's most cars.

Um a little confused by this post the VRS goes out of production very soon are you suggesting that over the whole life of the vRS Fabia production the highest sales are going to occur in the last few months?? Utter rubbish

Once the model has stopped being built there will be no more and year on year there will be fewer due to insurance write offs.

The price will always drop for very nearly every car with the very odd exception the vRS not being one of those.

An interesting point about the vRS in Autocar/AutoExpress is that (as I nearly always say) is it warns thousands of readers not to buy a chipped/modified model.

Based upon this I may set up a company "return your vehicle to std before you try to sell.com"

Its the same case with the Saxo's all the modified ones are pretty much worthless and std models are worth much more due in most cases that the seller will presume it hasnt been thrashed or driven by a stereotyped idiot.

I give up. I've never known such an agressive bunch that flame each other so much on a forum before. It's almost unmoderated too.

You'd think that we were talking about racial topics rather than light hearted car chat. Do you go telling people they're talking rubbish to their faces? I doubt it as you'd get thumped on a regular basis.

Thats incredible - I give you adivce to prevent you makeing yourself look silly in the future then you post that....:finger:

Note I do say it to peoples faces if they are talking utter nonsence + I'd like to see anyone thump me and put me down (I play in the 2nd's at number 8 and were nearly always having handbags :D best bit of the game) I'd just get back up into their face and use my head on their N&se

The vRS does hold it's value well, more than a non-vRS Fabia. The full reasons I do not understand, a Fabia vRS holds about 51% after 3 years, which is more than a Polo which arguably has a better interior and looks nicer. Anyway, they seem to do well enough by car standards...which means you still lose a bucket load of cash, just less than with some others.

All I'm saying mate is that you need to calm down a little and not flame people at a moments notice including using a :finger: with practically no provocation. Apologies if I upset you.

My point was that the vRS is becoming much more popular than it was as word has spread. More will be in circulation rather than sat on dealer forecourts and production has not finished for the vRS yet AFAIK with people ordering 07 plates. You are right about the new model though, that will kill residuals more than anything. Any dates on when the new vRS is due out? Are they continuing production of the old vRS until then?

It's all about supply and demand. There aren't that many vRS' on the road and that's not going to change due to production ending soon. They are also in demand (as anyone looking for a good second hand vRS will find out!).

Best thing to do is never spend >£5/6k on a car there is so much available well under this budget which has many years left in them.

So many youngsters go out take out a loan buy a car then a few years later in this case £6k lighter in car value + the cost of the loan, or if they dont have a loan the loss of interest if it were in the bank.

Although without people who buy new cars it would mean that people like me who buy only 2nd hand min 3 years old walk away with in effect a new car for max half the new price. Run it for 5 years and then give it to your lady/wife/kid and then you buy a another new one so its in your family for at least 10-15 years. Really getting the value out of the car.

Can anyone answer this - where are the moderators? There have been countless posts here which should be deleted yet they are not. It is also interesting that in the "Superb" folder there is very very few such posts.....

Mrs didnt put out last night.:(

Ah I see, so production is ending soon. Righto.

I'd have thought that perhaps they may have continued making the vRS until the new one is out, a bit like BMW did with the M3.....I think it's done now but they carried on with it after the E46 had stopped being made.

There's one thing though....it'll never be in the same league as the Mondeo or Vectra. :)

With all the fleet cars the roads are flooded with them and that'll murder residuals.

LOL. :D

Well a Vectra GSi or a Mondy ST Tdci will very soon be at or lower than the vRS value clearly both offer more for your money on space practicality and they will be newer cars.

The mondy will handle better than the Fabia - as all the reviews suggest it is the best handling car likewise the Focus.

Mrs didnt put out last night.:(

Wanna bet? ;)

Ooops - off topic :o:rofl:

Chris

I was looking at a Mondy TDci before deciding on the Fabia (ScoobyChris can testify to this by the endless PM questions :) ).

I ended up going for the Fabia as I felt the Mondeo was a bit too big for my needs and the Fabia is a little more unique on the roads at the mo. No doubt the Mondeo is a good car, there's just lot of them on the roads. The ST's are tasty....I like the styling very much on those.

I drove a Vectra a while back, albeit a 1.8 and not a GSi, but it felt like a huuuuge car. And the silly one touch indicators drove me potty.

The Fabia doesn't offer as much value for money as the above 2 but seems to hold it's value better due potentially to greater exclusivity. Mad....an exclusive Skoda!

By exclusivity I mean far less of them on the roads than Mondy's or Vectras. ;)

Chrispy

I had a very recent test drive in the Fiesta ST with 3 miles on the clock and two miles up the road the dashboard creeeeked and squeeeked lots more than any little dashboard fault in my Fab VRS. I did like the style but i just could not get a comfortable drive in it.

Anyhow the ford salesperson was a lot more interested in the Fab VRS he kept saying that he would have no problem at all shifting it from the ford forecourt and was a very nice car (prob sales bull***t ) but I don't think so he was just tooo keen on the Fab VRS so much so I am keeping it for a wee while longer..

How long do you reckon it will take for a good condition low milage Fabia vRS to be worth around

My view is that by Dec07 we will have seen private sales in the mid

Because if we delete posts for the fun of it everyone complains that we're fascists. If you have a problem with a post that you would like moderating, please use the "report post" button to bring our attention to it.

And, FWIW, I also think your *opinion* on car sales not peaking close to production end is incorrect - it's at this point that there is usually a lot of stock to shift prior to a new model being released, hence heavy discounts and incentives. This will lead to a surge in sales, and the discounts will in turn harm residuals.

You forgot to mention the "request a ban" facility that Jon runs ;)
