how do i find the strongest port

Featured Replies

hi everyone Ive just bought a lead for the laptop and ran it plugged into the car but it didn't scan much,so how do i find the strongest port to use at the moment its in port 4,I'm sure Ive seen it some wear that you can change port for a better one but how do i know which one:confused:

there is no such thing as a better or stronger port on a computer they are just ports

when you say it didn't find much what do you mean exactly?

when i did a scan i think it found the engine and i think the abs,am i using it wrong

as long as it connects fine and you can see things like the engine then its connected fine. you don't get stronger ports etc as a connection is a connection, a serial port will transfer quicker than a usb dongle will but it will still pick up every section that it as able to access just a bit slower.

ebay job and 409 i think

The ebay jobs have been known to have issues connecting to modules. Search the forums and you will see that. Some have been able to make them work for their car. Some have given up in frustration. Hope all goes well for you.

Don't think your going to get far with the 409 and an ebay cable. Your lucky to get it working full stop IMHO
