Octy VRS 2001 - throttle probs please help

HI,

I just bought my octavia vrs last week - and a few days ago a engine electronics light appeared on the dash and it has been spluttering a little when you start it up

I took it to the dealers (bickerton Sheffield) they tell me that its the throttle body, Gasket, Pipe, and valve. and its gonna cost me £596!!

Are they ripping me off?

Can i get the parts from a source other than the dealer?

Had the light on too.The Throttle body housing cleaned out yesterday.Cost me £84.

Told me if it comes on again probably need new one.Hope not with those prices!

Is there a Bosch dealership in Sheffield? If so, try them.

looking to see if i can get suggestions on how to "activate" by retrofitted SLA headlights. essentially i'm getting an "cornering light (AFS)" error, meaning the high beam fancy masking/patterns (rollers) aren't working, let alone the shutters (HBA on/off). vcds autoscans show 2 faults in module 4B, saying the controllers are "Not coded". it looks like we need to upload (via ODIS/VCP) some parameters to the 4B module, telling it's now got SLA and how to use it. not sur

Hi guys new to the forum so hello I have a problem with my boot when I unlock the vehicle the boot will not unlock. but when I push the middle button ie boot unlock icon the boot will unlock. I have tested the switch and it is fine has anyone else had the same problem at all.... Regards Dan.

Fanbelt squealing 2.0tdi, is tensioner spring broke?

I just put a new Alternator clutch on my2.0tdi CFFB but the new belt is squealing. The tensioner was new a year ago, but doesnt seem to have the tension needed all the time. It can feel loose, or feel ok but starts squealing . When you move the tensioner bolt, it feels like it is catching and needs pushing back into position. Is something broken? Is there an easy fix or do I just put a new tensioner in? (I know how difficult it is to do)
