well, bought my daughter a ds at the weekend, after a quick search for mod cards on the internet it seems for under 50 quid you can buy a slot 1 ( game slot) card and a micro sd flash card(if you dont already have one) that plugs in to it, plug the card into the ds, use the wireless on your pc to send ds roms, movies or audio to the micro sd card, bobs your uncle and fanny's your aunt and the ds does everything the psp can do only better

M3 DS SIMPLY [#274] : ModChipfitters.com - , International Suppliers Of The All Best Mod Chips For Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS ECT. & Console Accessories including swap magic boot disks In The UK, United Kingdom

sounds amazing.

I think a trip to bowlers is in order!!!

I have a DS Lite with a Superkey, Supercard Lite Rumble and a Kingston 1GB MicroSD card. Works very well! Easy to use, runs nearly everything, its neat. Not a lot more you could want.

But if I was buying something now, I'd go straight for the new Supercard DS (ONE). Its basically both a Superkey and Supercard in one (DS Cartridge that takes a MicroSD directly - very neat). Plus I think you don't have to convert ROMs and apps for it, just dump them on the card and play.

I have all the games I bought on the SD card to save the cartridges being carried around and getting lost/broken/eaten. Plus there is some really cool homebrew stuff out there - got a VNC client, MP3 player, all kinds of stuff on there.

Hmmmm, so lets say i bought a Supercard DS at the weekend

could you pm me a source;) for all my ds needs?

cheers

There's a newsgroup that seems to have plenty of "stuff" available for download

just seen one on ebay with 4 dvd's of roms

pm'd the guy so fingers crossed

do these work in a ds lite?

  • Author

yep, mine is a ds lite

Ok so to get me started, what exactly do i need?

  • Author

right, as far as i understand it you'll need a slot 1 flash card like the Supercard DS mentioned above, there are a few different ones and i'm not sure which is best, the slot 2 ones seem more complicated and involve tricking the ds in to loading the copy game by putting original games in slot 1 and loads of other **** so i'd stick with the one above or maybe some of the below but dont quote me

m3 simply

r4 ds

ninjapass x9

do a froogle search for nds slot 1, they are about 30 - 40 quid

an sd micro memory card to fit the ds rom or film on -15 quid and up

a pc to convert the film and either a card reader or a supported wireless pci card and the relevent drivers

and of course an .nds rom file or movie in a playable format

On the recommendation of a friend I bought a Max Media Launcher and a Supercard Lite for SWMBO's DS Lite, and I used the free 1Gb microSD card I got from o2 :D

Works great :D

Max Media Launcher from Ebay

Supercard Lite from consoleplus.co.uk

So I assume if I get a super card slot 1 I then buy sd cards that slot into this then?

Dont worry about the technical stuff. I am pretty savvy, just need to know the purchases involved.

Pretty much.. the microSD just slots straight into the supercard lite

This is the one I bought.. clicky...

Cheers for the info guys. Plenty of food for thought here. Might have a bash at this at some point.

I got one of the simply DS ones this morning , and it works faultlessly.

The instructions were pants but I figured out what to do with the files and now have 20 games sat on a 1gb card with plenty of room left

I have Supercard lites and PassWe3s for our DS'

I got them here and they are great.

I have looked at the Slot1 affairs and they do look interesting especially coming with Moonshell on them already and the fact you don't have to patch and convert the ROM is attractive too. I have a collection of a few hundred games and I like to keep a back-up for each of them;) :D

If you have a look on YouTube for Nintendo DS with supercard or moonshel it'll give you an idea of what is possible.

Also have a look here for all your Supercard needs.

got a r4 revolution on saturday with 3gb of games, moonshell, the media software converted every movie i threw at it yesterday into a supported ds format with ease, definatly recommend the r4, i also got a web address off the guy that has all the games.

for 55 quid with a 1gb microsd card was a bit overpriced but the 3gig of games made up for that.

cant believe how small the micro cards are though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just ordered my R4 :) Can't wait to get it now!!!

I bought the DS Simply. Works like a charm

sorry for being a nub but am i right in saying that your micro SD card fits in the top of the r4 cartridge? and not it a GBA cartridge in the bottom?

i was thinking of getting something like this for my DS and was looking at a 'one' way solution.

thanks for any info :)
