New Fabia - first drive by CAR magazine

Featured Replies

I still don't like the front though. It doesn't have the nice sharp slabbiness of the current one.

Hmmm how can a slab be sharp?

I'm not keen on this. Perhaps it'll grow on me though - I'll have to see what a vRS version looks like before entirely making up my mind.

I too like the solid, chunky, sharp edges of the current Fab vRS.

And they like it...in a no-surprises, tried-and-tested-formula sort of way.

Yes - I could imagine a packet of Werther's Originals in the glove compartment.

"There’s nothing revolutionary about the new Fabia. It’s handsome but breaks no new ground; competent on the road but never exciting. Yet it’s a thoroughly likeable car. Skoda has focused on the things that genuinely needed improving and avoided straying from the path followed by the old Fabia."

Seems like a fair description to me , and for all the muttering I'm sure there will be plenty of VRS owners on here when it arrives

Not a bad turn of speed tho for a 105BHP diesel .

Hope it is NOT a couple of years before the vRS, that would make mine 5 by then. ( would be sending it to Primary school :D )

I really like that. Sounds like the perfect second car shopping trolley.

I bet when it appears in the flesh it'll not sit so photogenically low, tho...

i like the picture on page 2 and the interior (obviously not the colour) cant wait to see the first photoshop of the vRS!

Yeah, don't think it looks too bad in this pic either, but I'm still not 100% convinced...

The edges and corners can be sharp. The current Fabia has a pleasing angularity to it. It looks a bit like it's trying to look like a much bigger car.

You dont have to buy another Fabia, theres plenty other motors out there ;)

Maybe worth a test drive when it comes into the showrooms. If its nice to drive as the current Fabia, has more room as well , then could live with the Roomster type front. Wouldn't have one though 'till next year to see if any 'issues' appear.
