Trip computer, clock, radio resets and lots of solenoid clicking

Featured Replies

Hope someone might have come across this one. During (mainly cold weather) on starting, there is a lot of clicking from the solenoid area. I then find that all trip indicators reset to zero (trip computer). If radio is switched on, on starting - this also resets to safe mode. Have checked and can find nothing loose etc. Would appreciate any ideas. Model is 2000 Octavia 1.9 TDI.

I had a similar problem last winter and the start of this winter however in my case the car wouldn't start at all. I replaced the battery and it's been fine since.

I read here at the time that batteries are good for about 5 years. My car is a 1999 2 litre. Probably worth a try replacing it. The battery was £30 fitted by Kwik Fit.

Thanks dickeyboy - yes have replaced the battery and all ok, but still get weird clicking noises from solenoids - will keep looking - hopefully just a battery problem. Thanks for reply
