Multi meter checking on pod, sori if in wrong place

Hi all, well i am gonna take the pod out and check with me huge magnifying glass to see if there are any dry solders or any broken bits on the board, if the pod is in place in car, what setting does my multimeter need to be on in order to check resistores or such, CAN i check the pod with a multi meter, i am clutching at straws now.......

PS, can someone tell me how to check continuity ?????? or how will i know if a resistor or summat isnt working, or even is working.
