POD - Checking things out before trip to dealers

Featured Replies

Hi all, car booked on wednesday to be checked about this flashing light saga.

Spoke to service guy and explained, he said it could be an alternator problem, so i read in threads earlier that.....

Alternator - check blue wire/connection near gearbox - which side is this on..

also i checked with meter that the battery was receiving charge, normal reading was 13.3 ish, started car and it read 14.4 ish, is this correct, i presume the thick wire is for charging and the blue wire is for the dash battery icon....please correct me.

Is there anything else i could check over the weekend before it goes in.

Where are earths that are promenet to rust/crack/break or any other wires.

Also i sourced a direct replacement pod but the service guy said lets check it out first, now does there reading software have more capability than VAGCOM or is the same.

Dilema is if i get pod and find out its the alternator, thats double money pay out plus stealers cut......if i can 100% ish check everything out my self like connections/joints then will feel better at least.

Final question.

on the pod ( left side connection, not green block ) if i remove that connection then the flashing stops, i presume this is the pod power stuff does anyone know what colour wires feed the indicator lights on the pod, could try and trace them back to connections and check....... also check if ant connections are pulsing fast to feed the flashing on dash, hope you know what mean.

After reading that some one is gonna be charged 78ph from a garage then i will do what ever i can to try and resolve it meself.

Over all i find it hard to think that pod would cause this problem, no one on here has mensioned that they know of some one replacing a pod with faults...

Any pointers/suggestions on where to look/check ( especially the alternator ) most welcome.

Sorry for long post, and sorry if you are cheesed off with me posting problems about flashing......haha

spevie
