Hi all, how do remove the 12v power point next to the hand brake, i noticed that the light was flicking on and off but now off on me way home tonight, wanna check it out tomorrow.

PS, still works just light not illuminating the socket surround.

2001 1.9sdi classic

You need to lift up the centre console to get at it.

remove the rear ashtray (just pops up)

remove the two torx screws under it.

remove the gear gator and gearnob (pull on the gator and it will pop out)

pull out the front ash tray and remove the 3 torx screws under it.

lift the ashtray trim to release the clips holding it in and disconnect the wire that runs to small light.

remove the trim in the middle under the handbrake its self (pops out with a little toolage)

then slide the whole console towards the rear of the car about an inch and lift.

you should then be able to get to the connectors on the socket.

refitting is the reverse, think i used a small hose clip for the gearnob as i broke the orginal one.

Cheers for that, thick of snow at the mo ( 11:03 at night ) so will have to get the front end stuck in garage to check the other stuff......

but will do this first.......
