Vrs brake pads and tyres

Featured Replies

Hello

I need 2 front new tyres and brake pads and discs. First of all im not sure what tyres to get so was wondering if anyone could suggest some good ones and tell me what size tyres i need for the standard Vrs wheels?

Secondly is there anywhere online i could get new brake pads and discs for the Vrs i have been qouted 165 for fitting and parts by the dealer which is a bit too much. Any ideas?

205/45/16 for Fabia vRS

mytyres.co.uk about the cheapest, del to your door or to fitters (they list local fitters & their prices). Mini ratings are available for each tyre - tyretest.com link on each page.

I personally plumped for Hankook Ventus (from the two 'review' sites i.e. pneusonline and mytyres) -

why don't get the brake pads/discs as above off GSF or VAG parts , then get the tyre fitters to fit them when the wheels are off

On the AVS website there are 3 differnt sizes for brake pads and disc, does it matter which size i order?

The sizes are 239x18mm

256x22mm

288x25mm

Also is it for 2 discs and pads or just one?

I have just purchased a full set of discs and pads front and rear. The discs are mintex oe items and the pads are mintex extreme. Bought these from Jabbasport (top chap Nick who sold me them!) and am going to fit them at the weekend. The whole lot cost

I will have a look at them the tyres now thanks. Anyone any idea on the size thing?

Doing a search on Briskoda - the Fabia vRS discs SEEM to be 288mm.

Do double check though - or wait till someone comes along to verify this.

Yes it really does matter ;) The VRS discs are 288mm

Discs are always supplied in twos and pads always in pairs.

Thanks. Got them ordered now. Going to attempt to do them next sunday.

Is there a guide on the net anywhere on how to do it for the Vrs? I can find the guide for the rears but not the fronts?

Thanks again.

And Mintex and OE are a contradiction in terms I'm afraid

Mintex is one of the brand names used by TMD for their cheeper aftermarket materials. Only Textar and Pagid are OE

Well, there is a haynes manual about, also there is freedom membership which gives you access to a lot more technical help and information.

You might also want to do a search on 312mm brake upgrade.
