Flashing Engine Light When Cold

Featured Replies

Hi All

Got a V reg 2 litre Octavia which had an 80,000 mile service about 3 weeks ago. Last week in the bad snow it started having a problem where by when its cold, i'll loose power, it'll jerk around a bit and the engine warning light will start flashing. It only flashes for about 5/10 seconds but the poor acceleration stays until its warm. After that all is fine.

I should at this point mention that my engine light has been on since I had the car about 2 years ago. I've given up trying to fix the problem as the car runs fine and its just taking more and more of my money! The MAF was replaced around last April. It also passed its MOT with no problems.

The flashing engine light is throwing me a bit. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going on?

Cheers

Pretty common on the 2.0, usually down to either faulty altitude correction or the emissions are being hiked up by the crankcase breathing system. Usually find replacing the breather valve which is part of the intake pipe sorts it.
