Rear wiper

Featured Replies

The rear wiper on my 1999 Felicia acts kinda strange. Sometimes when I flick it on

it goes into intermittent mode and the only way I can stop it is by restarting the engine. Any ideas guys

i would die for an intermittent rear wiper on my felicia

push the stalk right back, as if to activate the rear washer. this should stop it.

sorry if you know this already.

does this guy just have a short or does the felicia really have a rear intermittent wipe setting?

yeah mine was intermittant.

Top models such as Glxi, and Slxi have intermittent wipers.

They can be useful when you know how to work them - at first they are a pain in the backside!

With mine, I spray the screen, then depending on the time (bear in mind the intermittent has a timer on it) just push the rear wiper to wipe once - this sets the duration betweeen wipes. To turn it off again, spray whilst its wiping.

I love the function on the front wipers - but not so sure about the back!!

Ye mine is a GLXi model it is a pain in the backside now if only I could get

the rear washer to spray.

Thanks guys.:)

a rediculous technology to limit to top end models, I have the Lxi and i am forever manually wiping the rear window, drives me mad.

What do I need to get the intermitent function on my Lxi?

Hello

Pray very hard. I have the GLXi version and I am dammed if I know what I am doing at all at any time!! I did however get a new set of front wipers today for

my mk1 glxi had no intermitent wiper

my mk2 glxi did have it.

Our 1990 pre VW Favorit did not have intermittent front wipers,,until it went in and had a recall for a fuse box upgrade, and when it came back it had intermittent wipe.

The silly thing is we never had any trouble with the original fusebox, but the replacement upgraded one failed some time later, on Christmas eve in Leeds. D.M.Keiths kept a mechanic back late for us and fixed it same day, and we got refunded for the parts for the third fusebox, but had to pay the labour, which was OK by me as the second fusebox had done a couple of years before it went pop..

Never had a rear intermittent though..perhaps I'l have a fiddle today and see if its a feature that has passed me by..our current Felly is a GLi so i don't think it has it.

Wow I'm quite excited that my GLXI might have an intermittent rear wiper setting! I never knew that! I think I'd prefer wipers on the inside of my car not intermittent rear settings at the moment!

get steamy in your car does it????????

he he he, my apologies. couldnt resist.

Ha ha! (I wish!)

My felicia, i would have thought, will have intermittant setting on the rear, but the only thing is that the park function on it doesnt work, which means that i have to manually hold the stalk until the wiper is sat down where it should be then let go, which means that any intermittant setting wouldn't work as it just stops any where it like on the window and not at the bottom.

This possibly is just a relay fault maybe. Not sure.

Same here. Left to its own devices it parks about six inches up the screen.

Hmmmmm.... i wonder if its to do with the actual motor assembly.

There may be a sensor in there that isnt working properly.

Anyway, i dont really mind, its not like you drive backwards everywhere and need to see out as much as windscreen! lol

I'm getting the same problem and it is starting to wind me up. lol. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this. I'm also thinking possibly a relay fault. In the Haynes manual they call it the Relief relay for X contact. This seems to control the rear wiper/wash. (Top row, second from the right in the fuse box). Anybody have any details about this as mine seems to be a replaced one thanks to a previous owner.
