Dashmount Vent Bracket 2003 Octavia

Featured Replies

I fitted one of these this morning after 15 minutes trying to figure out exactly how to fit it. In the end it was very simple.

However on pushing in the bottom section of the bracket under the air vent I heard what sounded like a metal item within the dash drop down onto something below the vent. No idea what it was and hopefully there is nothing crucial back there that is now broken. I'm hoping it was simply a metal clip of some description.

Has anyone ever removed the air vent and able to put my mind at ease?

Pics of the fitted bracket and the position of the lower section which slides in under the vent.

The plastic bit around the hazard button unclips and there's a screw underneath IIRC

Thanks, I'll have a look at lunch today :) On reading another thread here it does sound like the vents have metal clips surrounding them so it may well be one of them has fallen off.

No screw visible under the plastic cover but I did notice that if I pull the base of the bracket the lower part of the vent unit moves out of place slightly which makes me think it was definitely a metal holding clip that fell off.

It's a snug fit so it will stay in place. Just duck when you turn the fan on ;)

Can't recall any metal clips on mine, I took it out a while back...see pm, but well maybe they updated it slightly.

In that case I've no idea what the metal item was I could hear falling down inside of the dash, everything appears to be working as it should in the car so it can't have been anything major. :D

It fits perfectly and the phone is ideally placed for viewing incoming calls and sat nav.

Well done on getting it in, I removed the vents, that made t much easier.

Hi Simon, on removing your vents do you have any idea what the metallic object was that I heard falling off when I pushed the lower bracket into place?

I seem to remember it is spring metal clips that held it in, so I suppose you could have knocked one off the clips of.
