Hi there, I have a knocking noise that started a couple of weeks ago and occurs at low speeds when letting off accelerator or when depressing or releasing the clutch, and its annoying because it dosent do it all the time. I have checked the suspension driveshafts etc but found nothing amiss, so i took it to the dealers and one of the technicians took it for a test drive. He managed to get it to knock when reversing and just once going forward and agreed that the knock is coming from the nearside. His initial thoughts were that the flywheel may be at fault but would like to check the car out properly next week. Has anyone else had anything similar happen to there octavia?

Just to let everyone know my knocking noise has been found, it was my air intake which had come loose and was knocking against the radiator when accelerating or slowing down braking. I cant believe something like that could cause such a horrible knocking noise and i could miss something as simple as that! :O

I just thought i would would post up incase anyone develops similar symptoms.

I had a strange knocking noise on my car. It sounded like Bob Dylan tapping at the driver's door. Turned out it was the drivers of Astra VXR's, Ford Focus ST's et al; they were Knocking on Heaven's Door.

How was this fixed? I'm pretty sure mine is doing the same (dealer has checked suspension, engine mounts, etc) and sods law means it hardly ever does it when i'm over there but does it most other times (maybe to do with the car warming up but it sometimes does it warm too).

I've wiggled it and it is definitely loose but it doesnt seem to just clip in (unless i'm not pressing it hard enough)
