Minor TDi niggles -help please!

Featured Replies

Hi all, -first post on Briskoda, and I've just bought a '53 Fabia TDi with 66k on the clock. Still got the faithful old Felicia too though.

I'm generally very happy with the Fabia's drive & performance, but there are few minor niggles:

(1) Worst is that the rear screen wash doesn't work. I've filled the bottle, checked the nozzle, and there are no leaks inside the boot or body of the car. I've seen other posts on the subject so I know to look for a possible disconnected pipe under the bonnet somewhere. But where? I can see the wide (white) filling pipe sloping down towards the front nearside headlight, but darned if I can see a tank or pump anywhere! The engine compartment on this thing is so full I can't even get an arm in to feel around properly.

(2) The heating (not the A/C): this seems to only have 2 heat settings - cold setting is cold, and everything clockwise is hot. How do I keep warm without switching the heating on and off every few minutes?

(3) The Skoda "Symphony" CD radio: when switched on there's a loud rattling from the vicinity of the CD drive for about 10 seconds, then radio & CD work normally. Wassatallabout?

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

the rear washer pipe goes in through the bulkhead just to the left of the ABS unit , it comes apart there when the fluid gets frozen

And the I would think you have a heater flap motor fault, probably requires setting

Thanks ric04vrs. I'll see if I can work out which is the ABS unit tomorrow!

OK Lummox, ta. Expensive?

Thanks again for the fast response.

Not if you have VAG COM.

You just need someone to hold the rear wash switch on for you and watch all the water flooding out of the car.......

Mine too popped apart at the back of the nearside engine bay beside the ABS. Pulled the airbox out to get access to it.

Mine also split the hose out of the bottom of the washer bottle.....

Wheel arch liner partially out, new 'proper' clear hose from Halfrauds and much cursing and swearing to run it up and join it inside the bonnet.

Works a treat now though :-)

I found where the washer pipes came apart at the joint, just pushed it back in and all seems fine.

Thanks all.
