HTC TyTN or SE P990i - Anyone Own One?

Featured Replies

ordered an Orange SPV M3100 (same thing!) after using one, really good :)

although I am keeping my Nokia 6680 when I want something less bulky

Where did you get hands-on? Was it in an Orange store?

I've got the HTC sat on my desk at work.

It seems very solidly made and runs all the usual windows mobile stuff including tomtom just fine.

I don't use it on a day to day basis though as my old XDA is better for TomTom with a bigger screen and my 6280 is lighter for just using as a phone.

As a main phone and TT unit (I have TT6 sat here on CD) to be used day-in day-out does it perform ok?

had the htc for a week great phone, ideal if you dont want a filofax in your bag as well

Yep , works just fine.

Nice and stable with no crashes or hard resets needed

yup!

they're quite scarce though, apparently. my local store (Newport) didn't have them, but the bigger store in Cardiff did, for example

I went from a SE 900i to a HTC TyTn (M3100) and to be honest it

I have a TyTn (or Vodafone v1605) and it's pretty good if a little bulky. If you prefer a PDA it's better than the Sony Ericsson P990 which has had a lot of faults and does not have as much support for its Symbian UIQ as the TyTn does with its Windows Mobile 5.

In addition I'm using all three free GPS mapping applications (Microsoft, Google and Nokia) and they are work well. Windows Mobile / PocketPC has far greater support than the Sony Ericsson.

Having said that I do not rate most Windows Mobile devices for making phone calls. Their touch screens are awkward for pressing buttons and they are all two-handed devices.

got my SPV M3100 yesterday, and it's good!

takes a bit of getting used to, but I'm finding it handy for certain things.

will be keeping my Nokia 6680 for when I need something smaller

In the end I went for an Orange SPV M700 (HTC Trinity). Basically a TyTN with no keyboard and built in GPS.

First impressions seem very good, copying TT6 onto it now so we'll see what happens I guess...
