Forge "The Splitter" dump valve

Featured Replies

I want my dump vavle to sound like a dump valve and haven't been confidently able to buy one due to the air needing be be ricirculated in the air box etc.....!

But......Forge have got "The Splitter" which directs enough air back into the airbox to stop any ecu issues and the rest of the air is dumps atmospherically, to get that great noise!

A Couple of questions please. Firstly, does anyone have one and what are they like?

Secondly, would I need to tell my insurance company about this? As on the Forge site it talks about when you may need to run the car in Stealth Mode, I didn't think that the police or anyone else would have any problems with this. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. :D

I think they're talking about stealth mode if you take the car to a dealer whilst still under warranty ;)

Its a modification to the engine so you MUST tell your insurance company. They will, more that likely, have "dump valve" listed as a mod so it'll be simple.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i see! Not worried about that then on my 3.5 year old car! Would the insurers need to know about this do you think?

Yes. Its a modification.

If you crash and kill someone they will go over your car thoroughly - if they find it they wont pay out and you can add "driving without insurance" to your problems.

All modifications should be declared - otherwise you may as well join the 100's of pikey all over the country who dont even bother paying for insurance.

And, theres no point paying hundreds of pounds a year for nothing.

Thanks for all of your comments. Is a mod like that, which makes very little/NO performance advantage likely to push the premium up by much? What are peoples experiances of this kind of thing?

I have declared my DV and CAI, even though its only a sound thing and not a power gain. Im sure the insurance company would try to wiggle out of a claim if they can using these against you.

I wouldnt take the risk myself.

I agree 100% with Goochie.

im not sure how much more they look at your car if you kill someone but i have a friend killed a horse in a saxo,(dark country lane taking his gf home+horse escaped from field being chased in opposite direction by farmer=dead horse and a dead saxo) they inspected his car then as it was a write off and the farmer tried to sue olly for the vets bills...he lost btw as he wasnt driving dangerously. anyway i digress...they inspected it and it had coilovers a chip and induction kit and they never picked up on it(not declared).

...tis a bit of a risk though.

I have spoken to my insurers and as long as ANY mods that I make to my car, do not improve the cars acceleration or top speed performance then I can mod the car in any way! I just need to let them know and they will add it to my policy. However, anything that increases the performance will render my policy void and they will NOT even quote me for it.

Am i right in saying that a DV or CAI will not increase my acceleration or top speed performance at all??

This is what Chris Knott told me when i took out there policy, only to be told after when i had the modofications done that it would be an extra £60 on top of my policy.

Should have got it in writing before hand.

Worth the £60 increase though.

yeah i got one of these, they are out of stock at a few places i tried, been running it 2 weeks, once its set up as its adjustable tension, it works great and in non stealth mode is really loud and noticable, i have CAI aswell, currently running it in stealth mode as i wanted to see if their was any performance difference to the half atmospheric mode, currently their is not much in it, although stealth mode seems slightly more responsive, i like the atmos mode though so will be going back to that at the weekend

just take your airbox off and put a cone on:)......will make peeps jump back from the kerb!!.....told my insurance company when i had it done(back to normal now) and they werent interested at all!!...all they said was as long as youve not had a engine transplant we dont really care!!...and they put it in writing aswell!!.....go figure!!

k:)
