I bought some of the 6LL407183 bushes and was told I needed new bolts at the same time. Apparently this is because they use sheer bolts which can only be used once. The problem is that these bolts (20 in total!) cost twice as much as the bushes! I haven't heard anyone else on here mention them when having theirs fitted so thought I'd check. The other question I have is about this special tool that you need. I work in a Vauxhall dealership and was wondering if they would have the right tool or if it is specific to VAG dealers. i'm not sure , but i think the console stays in place when the bushes are replaced , Lummox or TeflonTom will be able to clarify this , but you are correct in that if the console is removed the bolts have to be replaced

i work in a Ford dealership and have found enough Ford special tools to cobble together a tool to do the bushes , haven't tried it yet though

i would think a vauxhall dealer might have a similar selection of tools to have a go at the job

otherwise VAG only for the pukka tool or Lummox or VRStu ,i think

I had some wishbones bushes replaced under warranty the other day. It didnt seem to take the garage long to fit.
