problems with vrs. is it me?

Featured Replies

Hi People,

Just a few random questions about some problems i am having at the moment.

1)- When driving the car from cold i can feel the car surging. it only does it in high gears low down in the revs. It didnt used to do it but does now. car is 2004 27k on clock standard fabia vrs. Could it be something to do with the DMF?

2)- After a few seconds of idling the car starts to judder. it has always juddered to some degree but it is getting worse latley, what could be causing this? i also noted that the intercooler pipe running from the EGR valve is internally coated with black sludge. could this be a leaking EGR?

3)- the turbo seems really noisy when it spools up. its not the usual hissing its more like a louder leaking sound if you get me? and only does it under full load?

4)- should the intercooler itself be loose? i can rock it backwards and forwards on its mounts by about 0.5inch? and also should all the connections on the piping from the egr to cooler be loose or tight as mine are connected but all can be rocked? i understand that they need a certain amount of movement due to engine movement but what would be people class as acceptable?

thanks alot in advance,

john

You will find when under boost pressure the pipes lock solid anyhow. You will also get oil etc in the intake system, this is due to the crankcase breather and the EGR system.

As for the judder and noises it is really difficult to say without seeing the car, i'd get it looked at by a dealer or a specialist.
