1.2 03 EPC help newbie

Featured Replies

Hi there

I'm new - help me find my way around this forum.

I've an 03 1.2 fabia comfort, which has had the wiringloom replaced - june06, but for last month has been juddering away. The limp home EPC sys jumps in and we go along fine for a couple of miles, then judder again when the light decides to go out!

Oh and no I haven't bought fuel from Tesco's etc!

Any advise would be appreciated as local dealership can't find fault, did flush injectors, but 10 days later fault reappeared. Wot does the EPC overide when in limp home, must be something it stops using!

The EPC system (Electronic power control) consists of the throttle pedal, throttle body and some switches such as the clutch and brake switches.

Why was the wiring loom replaced??

Is it something I should look forward to in the future with the 1.2 HTP engine

What reg is yours? I'm told (by dealership) that an 04+ shouldn't get the problem - The wires inside the plastic coating had rotted - Skoda HQ are denying any such thing, but you'll find quite a few comments on the net about them - dealerships are 'off the record' finding quite a few problems. They say that the way the looms are bound means water settles and ingresses, rotting the inside of the cables. Humm.. design flaw, personally think that cheap manufacture of the loom may be more the problem.

It took 8 months for my new fault to appear!

Thanks Lummox for prompt response - I lied tho - wasn't EPC (all confused) is electronic engine management light that's on. The one that looks like an engine! DOh.

Just back from 4 mile drive (with light on) no judders, but beginning to sound a bit rough.

Will the VAG COM show anything? ten days ago the dealership garage flushed out the injection system, which cleared the light and 'misfire/judder', but admitted that they didn't really know what was wrong!

Bought mine in April 03........Maybe I should start saving for the repairs now:thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Tee hee - Was it new then? Maybe worth seeing if the wires connected to the lower rear of the battery are not wet!
