strange flashing symbol but only for a split second

Featured Replies

never seen it before but i drove over a aquaplane and some yellow symbol flashed for a slit second a couple of times....but it didnt look like traction control because it wasnt in the place where it would flash up...and the car maneged to go over it with no fuss?!

ASR maybe....as opposed to ESP.....

I'm glad you are becoming a car designer, Leon - you can design one where we know what these darn things mean

Can't help, but you don't give a lot of info...

How goes it BTW?

my car doesnt have esp:confused:

Almost certainly the traction control warning light !

Next time the roads are wet (and it's safe to do so & of course you are happy to do so) give it a real "boot full" of throttle from a standing start in 1st & 2nd gears and you should see the traction control kick in and the same warning light appear.

Leon, you remind me of when I thougt it would be great fun to jump in a puddle after arriving outside the Festival Hall (serious music concert). Everyone was wearing dicky bows and me in evening gown). Gotta luv it. :D

Re ergonomics, did you ever read "The Mote in God's Eye" (Larry Niven I think) where the baddies' "unique selling point" was that they fashioned things to suit people.

Glad to hear things going well  (well, except for the yellow flashing light I suppose LOL).

Best

Yes, very, if you lke Sci-Fi. In context, it's a story that people will go for ergonomic benefits, though in the story there's a hidden agenda by the "baddies".

IMO "ergonomics" is an essential whether it be for car, office, kitchen etc.

Sorry still no help on flashing light :o

Do you recognise the light when you turn the ignition on (and all the lights come on)? Failing that, have you consulted that big fat book in the glove box :P

thinking about it, the asr light once switched on stays lit up on the leftish side of the speedo, on the rightish side is that where it flashes?

He really does like driving through puddles!!

Like the other day when we were in his car off to get dominos pizza, I said 'careful there is a big lake in the road around this corner' and he drove as fast as he could through it  :P

It washed me car!! and you didnt tell me til it was like 5 milimeters away!!!

no camera yet:( *sulks*

On old Cavalier when I went through deep puddles, standing water - battery charging light used to come on for split second i.e. fan belt slipping momentarily due to being doused with water.

Only used to happen when the belt was due or nearly due to being adjusted for slack.
