Another Hello

Featured Replies

Just wanted to say hello to all fellow Skoda drivers. Well I have been bitten by the bug. Previously owned an Audi S6 '02 and an Audi A2 '02. Both good fun cars and the S6 is a fair bit quicker than any standard skoda for sure. But the bills and servicing were chronic plus customer service getting ever lower. Despite the fact that Skoda are in the VW family, when I needed to have three cars I swapped the two Audi's in and have just bought three new skoda's, two Fabia VRS one Silver and one Black and one Octavia VRS (Diesel) Estate in Blue.

Absolutely bowled over so far. Fabia VRS are great for fuel economy and I do approx. 30,000 business miles a year. I pick up the Octavia on Saturday so will post again when I get a few miles done.

Heading down to Twickenham on Sunday so will see how she fares on the motorway. Of course, I now have the nightmare of three identical keys!! Still, a small price to pay I say..

Great forum and thanks to it I bought the cars, just hope all of your enthusiasm hasn't overtaken you

Thanks

Nice car with some decent looking extras. Any advice on tweaking mine..? I am sure there is all sorts of advice on here but haven't surfed too much yet. Have always had fairly quick cars including a Maserati 3200GT :D and an Impreza  so happy to have some extra under the bonnet - interested to see how these cars put it down on the road, already seeing torque steer on the Fabia when damp and pulling away reasonably quickly. How much further can they go out of interest in terms of torque and power?

Mark

There are a whole load of people here that are ex Scooby owners, me included.

A remap on the Fabia should see a reliable 170hp - more if you go custom map. Torque should rise to circa 300lbft if my memory serves me correctly.

Octavia vRS TDi 170 is a different ball game in terms of mapping, still early days and from what I hear the Diesel Particulate Filter is hampering things a little. A good car in it's own right though.

With regard to tweaking it really depends on what you want to achieve, the MFD2 navigation upgrade that many of us have done has some good posibilities. Some owners are having a Koni FSB/Eibach Spring combination fittted which achieves good results.

There are quite a few simple tweaks that can be achieved with VAG-COM such as turning off the seatbelt chime, enable the second foglight or coming home lights.

You pays your money and yakes your chances Mark.

Superchips might be around your way I think as are Forge Motorsport. REVO has a nationwide network of dealers.
