Furby vRS stereo problem

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed any distortion from the stereo system in the Furby vRS? Mine seems to have developed a sort of distortion/crackling (can't really describe it) of the music, however it only seems to occur at certain frequencies. Some CDs sound ok, whereas others sound awful. My first thought was that it just might be one of the speakers that was knackered, but it seems to come equally from all the speakers, so I was wondering if it was the head unit. Anyone else experienced any problems? (I haven't been cranking up the volume at all either, so I don't think I have damaged anything like that)

The internal amp in the headunit is pretty weedy so thats what causes the distortion, mine aslo does this. Looking to upgrade when funds allow.

Also my volume keeps going down to zero when i turn it up, most annoying

I had the same problem. Though thanks to having the 16v previously, I knew it wasn't the speakers that were at fault. Replaced the head unit and they are now great sounding!

I also had the same problem as you Ross with the volume going down when you turned it up!

As Ross and Graeme have mentioned, it's the head unit - a little low on the watts ;)

I've put in a decent pioneed dehp-77mp which kicks a$$ :D

When driven really hard, it does distort, particularly at medium-high frequencies, but I am still running on the internal amps of the HU. I have a nice Phoenix Gold amp to put in some time when the climate is a little more welcoming to DIY on the car

Graeme, didn't know you had an SV. Have you still got the stock can on the end ? Are you thinking of changing it? If yes and yes, take a look at Renegade. They're rocking guys. I have a dual high-level titanium set on mine and the sound is awesome and has added another 10 horses. Take a look here for the pics of mine.

Very nice!

I have put the standard can back on for MOT purposes. Got a Blue Flame twin spout normally, but am looking into a possible renegade purchase in the future. The twin underseat kit they do looks quite cool, but a little pricey!

 Another vote for the Exellent Pioneer HU... :D

Yup yup yup :D

I'll probably be adding my amp today while girlfriend's at work. Seems a bit warmer this morning :)

Head units are so last year! :P

You want yourself a multimedia unit! ;)

It is a multimedia unit... 3x outputs, 1x phono input.. + changer, TV, and DAB control :P

I'm suprised that the head unit is that bad. It seems to start happening on mine at low volume - about 8 to 10 on the volume control upwards. However it only seems to happen on CDs - the tuner is fine.

How much use as the CD had - does the laser need cleaning? Is it just high frequencies that are distorted? CD as a wider frequency range than a tuner. Could well be a fault developing with the CD circuitry - are you still under warranty?

It's difficult to tell what frequencies are actually distorted. I've only had the car a few months, so It'll be a trip to the dealer I think when I am next in the area.
