Featured Replies

 would any engine damage of accured to my 2.0 diesel when this light came on i stopped the car straight away and brought the oil level back up again i would just like to put my mind at rest . i will be keeping a close eye in future thanks carl.

I would say no, as you topped it up straight away. As this is a warning light i would say it was set just above the minimum level to alert you it needs doing.

many thanks for your reply .

carl.

Welcome, and I'd agree, you shouldn't have damaged the engine, particularly if you're using synthetic. I used Mobil 1 on my old Citroen ZX, and it survived a 300 mile m/way trip with about 2l in it; nearest thing to an ill effect was that it was slightly noisier than usual with that low a level.
