Skoda Misfire

Featured Replies

Hello all

I don't know if this will help anyone else out there but we have had a reply from our dealer about the misfire and loss of power we are experiencing with our new (56) 1.4 Fabia.

We have been told that Skoda in Czheckoslovakia (i hope thats spelled right) are aware of a problem that has been caused by a supply of coils fitted to Fabias manufactured June/July 06.Before i go on i have to say that i haven't confirmed this with Skoda direct but am going by what the dealer has told us.

Apparently, the coils are breaking down under load when the engine is at running temp and this can cause a serious misfire and the associated lumpy tickover and loss of power when changing gear.

Our dealer is replacing the coils with updated ones that are coming direct from the factory and assures us that it will solve the problem.:)

We haven't got the car back yet :( but are hoping to be out of courtesy cars soon:)

our dealer told us the part number of the 'dodgy' coils which i promptly forgot (it happens when you get old) but when we get the written report i'll post it here for anyone else sufferring the same symptoms...i do remember it ended with an 'L' and the replacement end in 'E'

happy motoring
