iv had my VRS for 2 weeks and use BP ultimate which helps in performance and the engine is much smoother. but now iv noticed the new v-power diesel from shell, is it any good or should i stay with BP????

Can't really give a comparison between Shell & BP, but I use the Shell Diesel Extra & add a splash of Millers Diesel Sport 4 to a tank with very good results.

Shell Diesel Extra is 90.9p per litre. Is the V Power stuff more expensive? It's not available in the North East yet.

Ran most brands through for a few tankfuls and never noticed any difference in power, economy or smoothness Cost rules my decision and so my local Tesco currently gets my business and I add a drop of Millers Power Sport 4

SHELL diesel v-power is 96.9p but only came out to weeks ago. you check it out aon the shell website as its like no other diesel and the cetane level is alot higher than bp ultimate!

Didn't realise they published this info - are you able to post what the cetane points for regular, V-Power and Ultimate are?

regular diesel is about 50 cetane and bp ultimate promise a minimum 55 cetane. v-power says 75 but its a new thing using gas so not sure how it works. check the shell website. bp ultimate cleans your injectors while driving to gain that extra bit of power

Couldn't find a cetane rating on their website but Googling turned up a minimum cetane rating of 51, maximum of 70 and typical of 62! So I guess worst case, you could fill up with a tank that was marginally better than regular diesel, but chances are you'd be well in advance of it.....

Use anything, you can get as it all comes from the same place.

You won't notice the extra 2p per litre for Ultimate, and that Shell V power definately won't give you the extra 6p per litre! :eek

BTW Do you know what the cetane rating is?
