Octy VRs 17" Alloys on a Fabia?

Featured Replies

Hi All, my apologies if these specific questions have been answered elsewhere, I looked and can't see anything

Anywho, I recently bought a set of Excellent condition Octy Vrs Alloys, and thought they'd look good on my 2002 Fabia SDI. I've seen elsewhere that they should fit with no mods. It looks like the ideal is to go from 205/50 to 205/40's for the extra clearance, any thoughts?

However, there appears to be a bit of moulded plastic sitting out on the Rear passenger side that rubs against the wheel that isn't on the drivers side. I've looked, touched, poked, prodded, and damned if I can see why it's there, what is behind it, and if it protects anything. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, even if it is just to tell me that I'm an idiot. :D

I know that the ideal tyre for 17" on the Fabia vRS would be either 205/40 or 215/40. Should be the same for the SDI.

Can't really see why anything would rub on the tyre. Where exactly is it? Top or bottom of wheel arch?

Cheers for that Jon.

If we look at the rear wheel, and mark the wheel in degrees like a circle, is between 30 and 45 degrees to the rear of the car, at first I thought it was for the fuel tank, but as the tank is on the drivers side, that would be out.

The semicircular arch literally has a box, about an inch and a half in height molded into the plastic.

I'll try and get a picture of it if I can.

What size tyres do you have on at the moment?

Here's a pic of mine on lowered Eibachs -25mm on 205/40/17 - No rubbing problems for me

The area in question is the box section that allows adaquate clearance for the back box of the exhaust (or something like that).

You WILL have to remove the 50 profile tyres for 40's for the clearance.

Im sure the metal section follows the same contour as the plastic.
