K line voltage test

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a skoda fellicia 97

A serial cable from Andy (ECUFix.com)

VAG-COM 409

the test is ok but each module gives "no response from controller"

The voltage over pin 7 (k line) to pin 4 (vehicle ground) is 10.4V

And to pin 5 (signal ground) is 0v

I guess it should both be around 2v

any idea where to search

thanks

Open-circuit voltage is not very meaningful. Take a 1 K-ohm resistor and see if you can "swing" the K-line to ground and to +12 through the resistor.

Pin 5 is irrelevant -- VW cars often don't have it connected to anything.

Thanks.

I tried that, K line drops to 1V with 1K-ohm resistor to pin 4

and goes up to 12V with the resistor to pin 16

I also hear clicks from the panel when it goes down to 1V

it looks OK than, what else can I check

Which controller are you trying to reach? Which engine is installed?

The engine is VW 1600 AEE

I am trying to reach the Airbag controller

But there is no response from all controllers

Thanks

Using Ross-Tech's HEX+CAN-USB interface, I can scan addresses 01 - Engine, 15 - Airbags and 25 - Immobiliser on my Felicia 1.6.
