New camcorder, testing the zoom on the mongrel

Featured Replies

Got myself a "new" 2nd hand camcorder. Sony Handycam DCR-HC24. Went for it as it's the same essentially as Mum's one which I already have setup/installed on my PC, but it's got a better zoom and more features.

Did a little test on the mongrel from my window after cleaning it, de-tarspotting, blacking the tyres and trim, and polishing the glass that's not aquapel'd.

You'd think I had some of kind of parkinson's type problem with the way it shakes.... I've just noticed it has some kind of screw on the bottom for a tripod. Wonder where I can get one cheap?

I'm no better. Is there anything on the Sony page, i.e. accesories?

I'm fairly sure that will be a standard tripod thread Jase - so get searching on eBay!

Jessops also do some cheap ones. And you could take it there to check ;)

Check out 7dayshop.com - Online shopping made easy !

Do a search for tripod.

You can get the plates for 1.50.

The monopod would be a good idea me thinks, not as bulky and as awkward to set up but would minimise shaking (and you'd get your plate with it).

Monopod looks mighty temting.

Tempted by that one as well actually! And the Hama kit does tend to be of decent quality.

Steve

I got a Hama tripod from 7dayshop, sometimes I think a Monopod would be better, ya know when you want it steady but don't want the hassle of a big tripod. But they are really good quality.
