VRS on Track

Featured Replies

I'm doing my first trackday at Bedford Autodrome in May in my VRS. If I only do 2 - 3 hot laps at a time will the standard brakes/ fluid be up to the job or do I need to replace them with uprated pads and 5.1 brake fluid?

You should be ok if you take it steady on the brakes. Just remember to do a cool down lap before you return to the paddock, and park in gear with your handbrake off :)

Thanks shifty, thought you'd be the one to ask. Out of curiosity what brakes do you run, and where did you buy them from?

I'm running Tarox G88 Discs, with Strada pads on the front, and Rallye pads on the rear. They work well. I got them from Awesome GTI

If you upgrade, get front hoses too, and some 5.1 fluid. DO NOT use the blue fluid, its crap if i'm honest.

Ive done several trackdays with these brakes, the standard parts, and they are fine, im not the heaviest braker though, but this was with at least 10 fast laps each session. Didnt seem to be any boiling or fade happening. Depends on the track, I havent yet done Bedford.

Not driving fast enough Dan lol.

I had all 4 discs glowing red hot after a cooldown lap, and total failure for 3 hours. Ooops.
