damper replacement

Featured Replies

Not that familiar with newer suspension setups....more a decrepit vw or porsche person, was wondering if the dampers can be changed using spring compressor as opposed to removing the arms, as the qoutes I keep getting are hideous and I would happily use compressors but would be a bit too daunted to take the arms off.....

If it's for the front you'll need to remove the entire strut to get the spring off and change the strut. Rears can normally be done without compressors.

If by 'dampers' you mean shocks then I can highly recomend the Koni FSD's. I've had them on mine (used in conjunction with Eibach springs) for a couple of weeks now and they've been quite simply superb

Yes he will as technically dampers is the correct term as that is what they do, they dampen the spring ossolation. The shock absorber is actually the spring as this is what compresses to absorb a shock.

Yeah, but 'shocks' is the terminology normally used when refering to 'dampers'!.

Seat Ibiza Mk4 Front Shock Absorber Replacement

Just found this one........ cheers stu

Kwik fit were gonna do it...as they cannot obtain the springs through their supplier ( and mark up accordingly I'm sure) they cannot do it. They quoted £180 all in including tracking for all 4 dampers,

They suggested a local garage who quoted £382....somewhat more....mmmmm
