In a bid to brighten up the interior a bit, I have replaced the black trim around the radio with a nice silver one as fitted to the vRS.

Looks really nice fitted, and seems to be a good but not perfect match the other silver bits on the elegance dash and doors. Brightens things up nicely to which is the effect I wanted to achieve.

What a pain to fit though, got all the clips detached easily except those along to the top of the radio. To get those free I had to loosen the radio screws and pull it forward slightly before being able to insert a screwdriver to release the clips.

Pics will follow as it was dark when I had finished.

The trim is a pig at the top but a little brute force pulls it out and i've yet to damage it in that way.

The silver trim adds a nice touch to an otherwise vast sea of black plastic, I fitted the trim when the MFD2 upgrade was done.

i just wish theyd make one in the cross hatch silver for elegance/L&K. I went for black when i did my mfd2 as i wasnt sure if the cross and silver would match.

Just out of curiosity, how much does that trim go for? Tempted as the black on black does look bland!

I dunno, I thought about this before but I thought it looked a bit too light compared to the grey bits in the dash and doors.

I've got a spare VRS centre console trim (for dual zone CC switches) if anyone wants to make me an offer for it. It's slightly marked in a couple of places after a less than delicate car kit fitting - but barely perceptible unless you know it's there. They're only £15 new so I'm not looking for much more than covering the postage. If you're willing to collect could even be for the price of a pint...

I also have a variable boot floor from a MK1 L&K estate (grey from black leather model). Hardly used and in v. good condition. Would cost £190 through SUK. Again if someone wants it and is willing to make me an offer (+collect from Surrey) let me know.

Certainly brightens up the facia - as Sworrall said, it's a shame it's not available in the patterned silver trim.

Does anyone know if the silver trim is availble for a standard air con unit (not the dual zone climate control), I poped into my local skoda dealer and according to his parts database they only do the standard black for that type of setup.

Thanks for the reply. The picture (link) fits looks the right one. I do remember seeing on the parts database an aircon RS version but assumed this was for a different model, plus when the dealer entered the chasis number of my car this option disappeared.

It is a std Vrs trim piece, dealer just ordered it as a part.

Me too - like the flashing strip round the dash. I'd be interested in a silver surround then. Round here though, maybe black is better as nothing on the dash stands out to the toe-rags!

Was a bit Sunny this morning hence the Glare!

I think its a tad to bright tho, but kinda getting used to it now!

Tempted to respray it though, into a titanium colour...not sure when I'll get time to do that. But will post pics when done!
