Octavia fsi whines, buzzes and clicks!

Featured Replies

I presume the following is quite normal:

Open driver's door - buzzing sound for a couple of seconds

Turn ignition on - more buzzing, clicking and high pitched whine from engine area

Turn ignition off - yet more buzzing, clicking and whining

I suppose this is all to do with fuel pumps and electronics but would be grateful for reassurance.

I think so. Since getting my Octy 2.0FSI I've noticed way more electronics/whirrs and the like type noises than any other car I've had before. So I presume (hope) it's normal.

i didn't realise that if you leave the indicator stalk down or up when leaving the car there is a buzzing noise to tell you about it. it took me a wee while to figure this out.all a bit pointless if you ask me.cheers john

oh and another thing re noises in the octy there must be next to no soundproofing in this car as i can hear every noise coming from anything rattling/ moving about in the boot, can also hear my brakes binding when i press the pedal.never heard any of this in previous cars.cheers john

The indicator stalk being left up or down activates the parking light and the car bongs to tell you.

Noise proofing is a common cause of complaint on these cars, especially tyre noise :thumbdwn:

The dual zone climatronic is a noisy bit of kit too.

Just turn the stereo up and it all goes away! :P

The buzzing you hear when you open the door is probably the throttle body - perfectly normal.

I still miss the "squelch" from the fuel pump on my old Mk1 Octy :P

I would not say pointless.

Did you look at your lights while your indicator stalk is in the on position? as it turns the parking lights on.;)

Indeed it does, in fact I believe this is a common feature amongst other marques too.

didn't know about the parking lights re indicator switch position. my previous cars did not have this "feature". i know i will never use this "feature" as i cant see when i will ever need too. does anybody out there use the parking light "feature"?. cheers john

I often use the parking light facility as the places where some of my friends live the only place to park is on the road and at night the car would be quite hard to see.

Wouldnt wanna park up an octavia vRS to come out and find some daft t@@t had converted it to a fabia:rolleyes:

Just learn't something else from this forum-didn't know about the indicator stalk and sidelights. Thanks.
