Drying the Car??

Sounds very similar to what I bought then. Normally I wouldn't touch Hafords with a ten foot pole but the 3 for 2 makes it worth a visit. I might get the Meguiers clay kit from there as it is 22.95 I'm sure there are a couple of other bits I'll need to make it worthwhile.

Cheers

Steve, how do you know about a top down?

One word of warning - the Megs water magnet has been known to go hard after a while and hasn't had particularly good feedback on Detailing World.

To keep it soft, wash it without conditioner and add a dash of white vinegar (I do this with all my microfibre towels). Personally, I think there are better drying towels out there, Poorboys or Sonus for example.

Seriously, it should be okay if it is maintained correctly. I suggest you use quick detailer too which helps to keep the water magnet soft.

Put it this way, clearing out my touring the other day, found a reciept for the last time the car was washed..

29/06/06.. and its done 15k since then, 7 of which were done in two weeks on dusty eastern european roads:D

I think its important to keep new and nearly new cars treated properly, but for the older stuff, just drive it:thumbup:

Everyone to his own. However:

Pity the poor bugger that buys it !!

Knackered paint is a sod to put right.

ALL cars need some paint protection.

Oh....Forgot......They look so bad when filthy ;)

I've had mine for about 4 years now and never had a problem - still performs well. I just put it in a 40deg wash with some non-bio after each use.

I'm just about to start using some Meg's Last Touch when drying as I've seen it brings that 'just waxed' look back up after just a normal wash and dry.

Steve

Can I ask how you knowledgeable peeps cure then prevent "ring" scratches in the handle dent? These seem to appear on my white car even though no-one has a ring on that hand :rubchin:

I just whack some polish in there Mo. Preventative wise, I would suggest either gloves or the milotec door handle covers which look like they would cover them up

Although, the only colours they do are chrome and ABS carbon fibre effect which I dont think would go with a white car IMO. :(

not sure on a prevent but the megs scratchx is supposed to be good for small scratches like that

I'll try some scratchx and a good dollop of wax. If that doesn't work, I'll see about getting some of those door handle covers that Pembo suggests and have the car resprayed to suit...

Thank you :)

Mo
