when is M.O.T due

Featured Replies

sorry to ask such a silly question but as they say first time for everything,

My furby was reg april 04 so do i need to get an MOT done asap or is it next year?

Sorry newest car i have ever owned and possibly the best so far :)

Yup fella, get it mot'd asap.

No mot, no insurance.

3 years after registration so yup this month.

IIRC you do get a notice in the post from what I remember.

if your unsure your V5 will tell you the date of registration, then plus 3 years for the date or MOT. Or the form they send you to tax your car will tel you the date of MOT needs to be done by.

cheers folks have booked in tomorrow at 5pm, good job tax is up this month or would have probably forgot. thanks again

You don't get any official reminders from the DVLA about MOTs, you may well get one from the garage next year. It is useful to remember that you can get it done upto 4 weeks before it is due (for 3 year old cars) or 4 weeks before the old certificate expires, and have the certificate valid for nearly 13 months. This will give you time to get any warranty related failures sorted or any other repairs done whilst at least on paper remaining legal.

Do they still issue that little blue sticker with an MOT reminder?

If they do, stick it in your car where you'll always see it! :D

Yes they do, but its up to you if you keep it or not.

my Dad once had a Vauxhall Cavalier estate , it was registered on the 29/2/88 , the garage didn't find it remotely funny when i pointed out that it wasn't really due an MOT until the year 2000 :o
