Anyone heared of Ensign or Enzine?

Featured Replies

My policy is up for renewal and I've just received my cheapest quote yet, but it is with a company called Enzine. Not heared of them before, and neither can I find anything useful on Google...

I'm always suspicious of these unheard of ones.

Ah, no wonder I couldn't find anything if it is spelled differently :)

Nice work, Mr Holmes ;)

No they use Enzine as well.

They're well known in the insurance market.

Righty ho, so Enzine or Ensign... I'll amend the thread title again

TBH they are a well known in the insurance market. I think the policies are underwritten in the Llyodds market.

Cheers

With a name like that, they might as well be called Enzyme and be catalysts to motor insurance

FWIW, Q, I had heard of them as Ensign before, but never Enzine... Never used them though

my policy is from them - says "Ensign" on the docs, though every time I've rung the broker (Brentacre) they pronounced it "Enzine"

no claims so far, apart from Windscreen jobs, but those have always been done no problem.

But reading that link on Torch Insurance, assuming it's the same company, makes me a tad worried......might have to find someone else come renewal time.

A police car crashed into my brothers 56 reg ibiza Fr, and when we got the insurance details through from west yorkshire police their insurance is through ensign so they cant be all that bad if the police use them.

We supply the computer systems and software (which we also write) to most major insurance brokers in the UK and Ireland. I can assure you that Ensign are very real and have been in business for many many years

Thanks all for the heads up

On Friday afternoon I received my last quote (or actually, they couldn't quote me due to the large increase in bhp, s****** :D) and went back to Chris Knott to discuss my renewal... The renewal as I received it was £759.99. I told them about the cheapest quote and who it was with, and they immediately told me they'd match it: £665

Now I just need to get back to the (1st) cheapest insurer and see if they are willing to drop it a bit more ;)

Quinten, if it's not too late, sign up with Quidco and try an online quote.

I went from paying £450 last year with Performance Direct (fantastic service BTW) to £364 this year with Direct Line, but because I went through Quidco, I've got £100 cashback (tracked and validated after 2 days).

Plus they do 0% APR on direct debit payments.

Joff, if you take a look at my signature, then you'll see that online quotes are a no-go area (unfortunately) for me :)

Sorry, got sigs turned off lol. I see the bhp/torque figures on your car details so should have guessed really

I'm with Ensign through Sky Insurance.

They had the best quote by a large margin, and have since needed to use the breakdown cover and it was first class, and communication with them regarding a couple of issues was very good too!

They're getting better by the minute, as they've proposed to undercut their cheapest quote (which was matched by Chris Knott) with another £20 :)

Tomorrow I'll have to call CK again to see what they can do in turn :D

Result

Chris Knott has come up trumps again and just by phoning a few other insurers and let them do the matching I have gotten my renewal down from £759.99 to £640.
