Damage to car during 4 wheel alignment

Featured Replies

I am not happy:mad: In fact i am ****ing pi55ed off:mad:

It would appear that during a 4 wheel alignment check i had done yesterday, the flange at the bottom of the sill on both sides of my Octavia has been damaged.

God only knows what they have been doing but it looks like i have a notch in each sill flange now, as if something has dug into the flange.

The flange has been bent before by someone and i straighened it as best a could then painted the full length of the flange black on both sides so it was not so noticable. But this is a different type of damage, it is like the flang has been sat on something with the weight of the car on it.

I know that i should go back and complain, and normally i would, but i have had a few of these type of things lately and to be honest i have had enough of wating my time and effort to get someone to do the job right that you paid them for without any other ill effects.

I would imagine that all they will do is straighten in as best they can then paint with some sort of sealer anyway and i do not feel like trusting them to do that if they can't do a 4 wheel alignment without causing some damage.

I don't want to go into all the other things that i have going on in my life at the moment but it has just been one thing after another and this has left me feeling so depressed i can't believe it.

I have written a letter to the company concerned which is allegedly a VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda and Porsche specialist:finger: and i will be taking some photos tomorrow to send with the letter and i will post them on here when i get chance.

 :(

they probably jacked the car up on the sill edge or the ramp they were using didn't have rubber pads on the feet that go under the sill

get an estimate for a repair to the sills then i would go back and kick up a fuss

I wouldnt let it lie, let them know asap.

If they have a job card system the damage should have been noted before the vehicle was taken into the workshop. If they cant produce a sheet with the damage on it then it must have been them.

:( Sorry to hear it mate,,, we never try to jack Octys on the sills as they are to weak:thumbdwn: When doing a laser track we use a 4 post lift and use the middle jacking beam to lift the car on either the subframe:rolleyes: or chassis rails..I do however lift mine quite a bit on a 2 post lift making sure there are rubber pads resting on the sill.

Get an estimate and confront the manager.

Thanks for the replies.

I am not sure what i am going to do yet. I am devastated. Just one too many things piling up on top of each other just lately and this is soemthing i could have really done without.

I am usually up for taking stuff like this on but i don't know if i can be bothered.

I will sleep on it and maybe call the place that did it tomorrow.

thanks again:thumbup:

'sides, if you do complain it might make them tighten up their act - cos they must be doing it to other cars too.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

And, yes, just what you needed at the moment from what you say.

Sympathies.

Sometimes just a 'moan' like this and the responses helps. We all need to let off steam at times.

Thanks for all the replies. I felt a bit better this morning so i gave the place a call regarding the damage.

They said to take the car in so i left work at lunch and went to see them.

Showed them the damage and they were adamant that they could not have done it as they use a pad type thing under the sills.

I said that they were the only people to have done anything to the car all week so it had to be them.

They did however offer to try and straighten the flanges up and seal them with something. why would they do this if they had not caused the damage in the first place?

Anyway, i said that i would rather take the car elsewhere to get it repaired or do it myself and would prefer some kind of recompense from them.

Firstly they offered me 10% off a service:finger: to which i said that it may be nearly a year til it needs a service and i did not want to wait that long.

Then they offered me a tenner:eek:

I explained that that would probably not cover the cost of even buying some sealant after it had been bent straight again.

I said i wanted

Sorry to hear of you recent bother Rob :(

If your looking for another local VAG specialist I can recommend one and they're abit closer to you than the outfit you've had bother with. :)

Is it A&A motors??

Thats where i went to get a wheel bearing done. They are ia nice set of lads but did not have 4 wheel alignment facility.

One thing i would like to know is this

I have covered the sill flange where the damage was with some underseal, but it is the type of stuff that never really sets solid.

Can anyone reccomend somethign else instead?? Something that maybe sets a bit more solid?

Yeah it is :D

I had my Furby serviced there about a month ago... very well priced and great service :)
