Protective paint peeling off alloys!

Featured Replies

Just been cleaning my Vrs and have noticed that the paint(?) is peeling one of the alloys. The car is only 8 months old - is this something you think I could get fixed under the warranty?

Thanks

Hi

I have a 54 plate VRS and had all 4 wheels replaced under warranty about 6 months ago due to the paint bubbling, one on the edge of the rim and 3 round the valves.

As long as there is no kerb damage your dealer should change them.

My dealer was great no arguments or funny questions/comments just "we will change them sorry about this"

It's on the one alloy which has been curbed! :thumbdwn:

Oh, well will give it a try as the peeling is in a completely different place to the curbing.

Thanks

Mine are bubbling around the valve. When funds allow, im getting all four of my alloys stripped and powder coated. This is better than paint as it does not bubble plus its harder wearing. Or so I am lead to believe??

How long does the warranty last?

My alloys are pretty poor with paint loss 2004/53!

Warranty on UK cars 2 years unlimited mileage with a third year capped at 60,000 miles. If it is in a non damaged area of the wheel then it would be worth trying to make a claim. I doubt very much that you would be the first person that the dealer has seen with such a problem.
