Gotta quit smoking, Wheel Alignment

Featured Replies

Ok, here's the story, I was just pulling into the street where i live when i dropped the cigarette i was enjoying at the time. Not wanting to burn my trousers or worse, my Fabia's seats I quickly reached down to pick up the dropped cigarette, not before checking for oncoming traffic mind. As i got up i realised just how quickly the kerb was getting close to my front, drivers side wheel. Unfortunately I was not quick enough and i hit the kerb quite severely, enough to warrant me needing a new tyre anyway, the rim (luckily stock) was also dented but not that badly. However, the car now drifts to the right when above 30mph and begins to shudder violently when approaching 70... the (now spare) wheel does look slightly off and was wondering if I should get the tracking sorted or checked and how much is the cost likely to be? As I said, I really have to quit smoking.

the shuddering will have been caused by the bent wheel , i'm surprised the tyre place never said the wheel was bent and it needs replacing

i had a Fiesta in the workshop today with exactly the same fault , the rim was knackered and it had a new tyre on it

and yes you will need the tracking checking/adjusting , but also get the steering and suspension checked first for damage as you may have bent something

Smoking Kills!

Jesus, good thing you hit the kerb and not an oncoming car or something.

Id get the suspension checked over, for a propper alignment your looking at around £80.

scary thought, glad no-one got hurt.. perhaps when you get the alignment you ask them to go more of an angle to the left, at least then you'll be kurbing it left gradually ;). And yes smoking kills, dont do it.

You could have bent a track rod end.

Ok. Update... I bought a new tyre, because it needed one after the accident, luckily it was an old tyre anyway... anyway, the place I went to also checked and ajusted tracking so I had it all fixed... no problems any more. The tyre was £40.00 and the lovely people also sorted the tracking for just £18.50, car is sorted and back on the road... YAY!

Thanks for your help and concern people!

the tyre cost less than 8 packs of cigarettes ?
