Exhaust squeaking.. ppppplease help!

Featured Replies

My exhaust has developed a soul-destroyingly-annoying squeak everytime I go over the slightest of bumps... squeak, squeak, squeak..

I've tracked it down to the section just under the section towards the middle / back but can't find anyway to re-secure it / tighten it up.

Excuse the picture...

Appart from going the whole hog and buying a Milltek, how can I stop the squeak?

The mounting has broken off, its very common and pretty well covered on here.

2 options, weld the bracket back on if there is enough left of it or a new exhaust centre section.

use it as a weak excuse for a milltec, you know ya wanna! lol. mines done this and i can confirm its a common problem, it can even be fixed with 2 jubilee clips and some patience.

Or if you pick up on the noise during a test drive/inspection of the vehicle before purchase, you can inform the dealership. They will kindly remove the snapped off bracket and send you on your way with the exhaust hanging loose under the car. :finger:

Cheers guys  The garage that does our work fleet said they'd weld it back on for a couple of quid.
