Xenon

Featured Replies

Xenons are killers for a std battery.

Unless Skoda fit a heavy duty alternator & battery as standard, you'd need these also if you use your lights alot!

At a guess, the bulb failure bit would need resetting too?

These are mine - first offered on this site

Killers of batteries - the rated wattage is less than standard lanps, 35w vs 55w as Xenons burn brighter and give more light for lower power so will load the battery less, and anyway who runs their headlights on without the engine running??

Dont quote me but im sure that you cant put the OEM xenon headlights onto a non xenon car as there is no sensor etc for the auto levelling system so the light shuts off:orb_no: so this would only be useful for someone who already has xenons.

If you do want Xenons then the best place to go is HIDS4U Ltd, Leeds, UK for all HID and Xenon lighting kits and conversions you need the ultimate kit @

Sorry my assumption, as nearly all manufacturers put heavy duty batteries and alternators on when you opt for Xenons. Vehicle valeting/pre-del place dad works for swap lights over all the time for GM, and the kit includes light clusters, batteries and alternators with the last 2 items not fitted to cars with the same spec, minus xenons

I seem to remember the Skoda dealer mentioning that Xenon option comes with these too - or is that akin to asking someone in PC World a technical question???

Click the button that says quote

The wattage is lower on Xenon headlamps when they are running and warmed up.

The ballast and starter gear draws significant current on start/warm up due to the very high striking voltage when the arc is being established.

Halogens don't have this power spike problem.
