I would say 1 isn't normal it should be a fairly consistent idle speed. Certainly the PD170 cars i have driven have never done what you describe.

With regards to 2 not a clue mate, but it might be in the manual.

Either the system thinks a door/window is still open/failed to lock, or a system fault it says.

Mine idles at around 750rpm except on a cold start where it sits a bit higher for a short period of time.

I've not noticed how the LED behaves.

i've only had this happen once when it idled @ 1000rpm but it didn't sound like a tractor, as to the LED staying on not happen as yet.
