Converting to autogas

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I've got me a vRS 'in-the-post' due end of june and have been umming an arring the pros & cons of getting an autogas conversion.

I have had a quote of

I am a big LPG fan, owning 3 LPG cars in the past, and feel if you do over 10k a year you can easily justify it, espacially if you plan on keeping it for a long while. The other plus side is that you can keep your right foot firmly welded to the floor without the thought that you just used a weeks wages for the privalage.

One word of warning is make sure the can can definatly take the conversion with out any problems, do plenty of research. The main gripe i hear about with modern cars is the fuel rail pressure sensor bringing the ECU light on all the time coz it thinks there is a fuel pressure build up due to a fault and not coz its running on LPG. I know some fords and Jag's suffer from this and my local AutoGas man tells me its becoming more of a problem with not many soloutions. The other one to watch is that you may need to run a oil wash system to stop your pistons melting themselves, its just another hassle.

Hope this helps!

Shame Skoda don't do this as a factory option (just like DAB radio). I'd have snapped it up!
