Managed to jam my gearbox up again!

Yep, the same thing has happened again that happened soooooo many years ago. Offered an LED sidelight bulb up on my car - didn't fit, so put the old one back and a little bit miffed, put the new bulbs back in the car and shut the bonnet.

Neglected to put the cover back... at all. So I moved off later, got about 30 yards and the gearbox lever suddenly jams up tight. Knew straight away what had happened :o and pulled over, stopped, popped the bonnet, yanked my cover out the gearbox lever (much easier to get to without the battery there now :D) and fitted it back. :)

It must have been 4 years+ ago now that my first "headlight cover" incident happened!

well it could have been worse...

at least you've never left a spanner in the scuttle panel then slammed the bonnet, which then proceeds to smash the windscreen....

Mind you, at least you knew how to fix it this time... ;)

Reminds me of a time when my dad put a length of wood in the car, which was about an inch off the front window. He shut the boot, whcih hit the wood forward through the front window

Took me less than 30 seconds to open bonnet, yank out the cover and fit it, and shut the bonnet again. Beats spending an hour waiting for Mr AA man. :D

I left a wrench on the end of the flywheel when I was doing the points in my first car, and then started it to tweak the timing. Luckily the flywheel stayed on its spline and the socket handle avoided all the brake piping on the way out!
