Fabia CD Changer / MP3 cable

Featured Replies

Hi this has probably been asked a thousands times but I'm thoroughly confused!

I have Fabia '04 Comfort with a symphony cd player (supports a cd changer)

I am looking at fitting a CD changer (but i don't know which ones will work)

I have looked on ebay, seems, obviously that VW, AUDI and SEAT will all work, however there seems to be two types off connection, a square and an 'older' rectangle plug?

also, where do you fit them? There is nothing in the boot and the seats do not have trays under them. The glove box is a sealed unit and don't really want to drill holes in it.

Finally the cables for it? are they all ready in the wiring loom? If so where too? the boot?

Any help would be great.

If a cd changer is going to be too much of PITA then is a cable that mimics a cd changer but has 3.5mm jack instead so I can plug an mp3 player into it?

Thanks for any help or advice

Not sure what the answers are but i have a under seat CD changer i want rid of, OEM to boot. PM me if your interested

Welcome to Briskoda

Check the back of your unit to see what connector you have with it

CD changers can fit under the passenger seat with either a bit of bodging or a part from your dealer which will make the changer fit perfectly, of couse it depends on which changer you go for.

To be honest, I would put it in the glove box as it isnt as sealed as you think  Just remove the light from it and you instantly have a hole as big as you like;)

Cable wise, I think you would get the cable with the changer, and then plug into the head unit

I think the 3.5mm option (if you have the option to do that with your head unit) will allow you to listen to your music fine, but you have to change tracks etc on the mp3 player and not the head unit. Another option if the 3.5mm jack isnt viable is an FM transmitter - which can be got off ebay for about 5 quid

Thank you for the help.

I shall have a look at removing the head unit and see what is there.

I swapped the head unit in my old 206 but not played about with anything more than that. I just can't see how you would route a cable through all the dash, is it just a case of trial and error getting it through a hole to the back of the radio, then tucking it behind the trim till you get under the seat with it?

The dashboard facia is hollow and the glovebox comes out by undoing just 5 screws which makes running a cable pretty straight forward - if a little time consuming. As Pembo says, there's an OEM adaptor to help mount the changer under the seat. Easiest place to put it is in the boot by screwing the brackets to the back of the back seat with some self tapping screws.

I went for a Solisto MP3 player because it's small so tucks in behind the dash and I've got a USB socket in the glovebox.

I was quite similar, went for a Kenwood with rear usb cable. Ran the cable to the glove box (you cant see any holes ;) and attached a 80gb hard drive with music  No CD changers or cd's ever needed again.
